The EcoBoost 1.6 Fiesta Pumaspeed X47 turbo was launched in January 2017, and since then the use of this unit globally has grown beyond our expectations.

The proven power and reliability of this unit is now without doubt the best hybrid turbo available for the ST180. It has been used in street and competition globally and recently ran a 12.6 second quarter mile time, which is an unbelievable achievement for what essentially is a direct bolt-on replacement turbo. One of our Pumaspeed dealers in South Africa ran a 12.5 at altitude. This turbo is the only hybrid to consistently get into the 12’s in various countries on various customer and dealer cars. With trap speeds in excess of 116mph, this shows the true pulling power of the turbocharger with no let up at higher speeds.

The X47 started life as a 290-300 whp capable turbo but the Pumaspeed passion for development has pushed us to try and get the unit up by around 10% in wheel bhp terms. We have used 3 configurations all listed below, all of which use the unique 45.1mm turbine shaft with varying angles of clipping to the blades to add extra flow.

X47 (290-300whp) – Billet alloy wheel size 43.0mm tips 56.56mm base circle 53.00mm
X47 Plus (300-310whp) – Plus version billet alloy wheel size 45mm tips 59.34mm base circle 56.00mm
X47R (330-340whp) – The unrivaled turbo we offer with anodized extended blade 7 tips and cut back exhaust blades

Each variant had its own specific spool point and powerband, but the new X47R model features a fully hard anodized deep grey compressor cover and some new internal developments which will add extra flow to the exhaust side. It also features the new spec race red compressor wheel which is anodized for increased durability.

Design Evolution – Pumaspeed 

Pumaspeed has completed the development and mapping of the X47R Billet Hybrid Turbo, it produces massive torque and power, far greater than any other hybrid unit. The low-down spool times are way ahead of anything else and allow over 4300 revs of gut-wrenching power that no one else can get close to.
